Mandragóra Restaurant

Branding

Located in the heart of Buda, Mandragóra is a family-owned restaurant offering modern interpretations of various traditional Hungarian cuisine. Their story dates back to 2004. In the beginning, the place started as a club-like bar which, over the years, has transformed into a fine-bistro-style restaurant without losing their special intimate atmosphere. They take traditional Hungarian dishes and reimagine them in a slightly more delicate and refined way. One of their most important goals is to use as many high-quality Hungarian ingredients in their meals as possible – something they can justifiably be proud of.

The restaurant recently went through a major remodeling and the new visual identity was created along with renovations in the interior and kitchen. The branding and the interior design take their inspiration from the restaurant's name Mandragóra (Mandrake) using botanical elements, hand-drawn gestures, and a green color scheme to set the tone for a mysterious experience. Inspired by the magical plant, the identity aims to capture a unique mix of calligraphic and typographic forms complemented with a natural motif in perfect harmony. With developing the new design concept, the goal was to embrace the restaurant's new atmosphere and create an unforgettable experience that engages not just our taste, but all of the senses.
